On offer is a C1600 or possibly earlier brass handled, claw guarded dagger. This piece is more likely English Civil War and would have been used to finish off downed or wounded cavalrymen or soldiers to badly injured to heal A Coup de grace blade
There is some faint engraving to the claw guard as well as on the pommel cap. Both the pommel cap and the claw guard are of steel. The blade is pitted which is to be expected owing to age This is a nice collector’s piece from the English Civil War |
