A superb German English Hunting Hanger Blue and Gilt blade C1750-1800

A superb blue and gilt blade on a stag horn grip with Brass molded furniture. The Pommel cap leads up to a small urn shap which holds the tang firmly in place.

The blade showing Banners and flags, cannon an incised Sun and a star. Possibly the workmanship of Cassaignard of Nantes Early 1700’s to C1812 (A French sword maker who signed his work often with the sun and star) fromas well as a figure of Diana/Artemis the goddess of the hunt holding a spear. On the other side of the blade is an etched Phoneix. This is to show the circle of life in the implication out of the ashes another is reborn, as in hunting the death of the animal gives the hunter life. The blue and gilt shows for ¾ of the blade
