| American Revolution and Napoleonic periods. Blade of thick wedge section, suitable for fighting. Brass hilt with high relief modeled oak leaf cluster terminal guard. Plain brass ferrule.Smooth ivory grip. Brass scabbard with engraved oak foliage and scale motif. Blade shows smooth gray patina Grip excellent with an age crack. Hilt and scabbard show medium patina as well as some remaining gilt. Carried for protection against the sometimes impressed crew as well as the enemy and criminals ashore. |
