| ~SOLD~ With curved single-edged blade, brass stirrup hilt retaining faint traces of original gilding and comprising shield-shaped langets each with a lion-mask, rear quillon, knuckle-guard pierced with entwined snakes and incorporating a further lion-mask. Plain pommel and back-piece in one, and ribbed bone grip (wire binding missing), in brown leather scabbard with linear engraved brass locket and chape, the former with frog-stud 75 cm. blade Note The Lions head in combanation with the snake knucklebow could indicate associations with The British East India Company as both the snakes and the lions head were used by them |
