| Pill-lock Naval pistols made for deck clearance. Used on a private prison vessel chartered to the Royal Navy to be called HMS Edwin Fox which arrived in W. Australia in 1858. These would have been made in the Dockyard for the senior Officers of the ship Note This 892 ton ship was built in Calcutta in 1853. It was employed as a convict transport for Western Australia and left Plymouth, England on August 26, 1858 bound for the Swan River Colony. She carried the twenty first of 37 shipments of male convicts destined for Western Australia. The voyage took 86 days and the Edwin Fox arrived in Fremantle on November 20, 1858 with 82 passengers and 280 convicts [Erickson]. Joseph Ferguson and Samuel Donnelly were the captain and surgeon respectively. I have the prison manifest of the list of all convicts on the first voyage as mentioned above |
